Giorgia Valmorri is an Artist and Art Therapist.
In 2007 she obtained her four-year diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino and began her research journey as an artist, taking part in residencies, group and solo exhibitions, and developing participatory art projects presented in both public and private venues.
She became an art therapist in 2018 at Art Therapy Italiana in Bologna. Within site-specific artistic projects, she favors relational practices. In her research, participation and free, open exchange are essential elements for shaping her artistic imagination. The creation of devices involving collective dynamics serves as a tool to activate processes that enhance, expand, and multiply the initial forms of her works, opening up further relational dynamics. The activation of these processes most often begins with an initial gift.
Since 2013 she has collaborated with Silvia Petronici as curatorial assistant on numerous projects. In 2016 she was involved in the realization of the public artwork “Gardens of Connections/Third Movement” in the Municipality of Marostica. That same year, together with Boris Bertolini—artist and architect—she founded the artistic collective Grigiosiro, which explores relationships by creating devices for communities and working on design to generate new spaces.
In 2019 she founded Scuolina Selvatica, a project for free and conscious education in nature for children aged 3 to 14, in Quarto di Sarsina. In 2020 she took part in a residency project curated by Silvia Petronici and promoted by Vegal ABC – Arte Bonifica Campagna, a new contemporary art circuit within farms as part of PSLarte.
In the midst of all this, in 2018 she became a mother and moved to live in the forest of Valnera, in the Lamone valley near Marradi, where she launched her most significant and ongoing project: Ripopolo – Processes of Community, through which she uses participatory and public art to open processes of relationship. Her tools are public assemblies and collective actions. The various events and formats that emerge stem from attentive listening and mutual trust.
Thus were born:
-
“Il Cuore dell’Albero”, the valley’s producers’ market in the garden space of San Martino in Gattara.
-
TondoBosco, a nature-based project for children aged 3 to 6.
-
Accademia delle 9 Lune, training pathways on ancient knowledge.
Alchemy – Light Through the Leaves.
To determine our intentions, our will, and to create Magic through the elementals. The first step is relationship. When someone asks for my intervention, I begin by listening to their desires: What should the drawing contain? What is its message—for us, for others?
This is how the study begins, a navigation between forms and meanings, to find the right plants—the ones that are truly important at that precise moment. From all of this, the line Alchemy – Light Through the Leaves for Pascucci came to life: a journey through forms and research into the most suitable colors.
Plants, in their apparent silence and stillness, carry great messages. I feel them as allies, companions, and guides. Each plant has its own symbolism, its own power. Each plant, its message, its teaching, its healing.
The observation of plants, the wonder of encountering them, has accompanied me since childhood. Immersion in the Wild is one of the most powerful and essential cures in my journey on this earth.
